It wrecked me, I can say at least. It was one of the books that danced wildly on my mind and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So as “13 reasons why” and “the fault in out stars”. I went around thinking about the what-ifs and whys and I got overwhelmed by how everything went wrong. I read the Persian translation, and I couldn’t pick a fast pace, but I wouldn’t comment on how the flow was since I didn’t read the original version.
Somehow, I think It would’ve hurt less If I had read it years ago. ‘Cause now I know damn well how it feels when someone brings you back to life and you live, because they are the reason. So I know how awful It will haunt you when you lose that cause and you might actually be the reason of this loss.
(Spoiler) I know how dark and devastating it is when your mind’s at fight. Being a mess so much you can’t even think straight. And having someone involved with you means ruining their lives as well. I know why Finch probably would’ve thought Violet was better off without him, but loving so deep, to let someone go, to protect them by getting out of their life, is a kind of bravery and affection I can’t think of. Even though Violet was no where near being free from what came to her, ‘cause she probably thinks that she was to blame for the outcome, but I kinda get why Finch did what he did. Yet I think he somehow overreacted. He could’ve accepted the help. There was still some way. It didn’t have to end that way. He could live and try to make things better. It was selfish to end it like that, when he definitely could do other things that weren’t as bad. Or maybe I didn’t understand the story so well to reason his actions.
I can imagine how Violet could’ve felt when she walked through the places they were supposed to go together, and seeing signs of him, knowing he was here right before he ceased to exist, It’s a sorrow that would always linger in the back of her mind.
I think the book could’ve been better if there was more detailing, and more questions answered. I sometimes got confused at the actions of the characters, and I wish the text was smoother to read. But maybe it was the issues with the translation, so I wouldn’t emphasize on this part of my comment.
7 out of 10, my rating. Books
